Where it all started.
From a very young age, it was clear that my connection with animals was something special — possibly even stronger than the Force was in Luke. I always knew animals would be at the centre of my world.
Our home was never without a pet of some kind. Rabbits, goldfish, mice, cats and dogs all became much-loved family members. I was also fascinated by the wild animals that lived in the beautiful bushland around us; from kangaroos, birds and bobtails to rabbits, and even my least favourite visitors, snakes and spiders.
At just 13, I began my working life as a strapper for harness horses and animals have continued to feature in both paid and volunteer roles ever since. Over the years, I've worked with the RSPCA, commercial poultry breeding and in dog training and breeding — just to name a few. Perhaps the most memorable is volunteering with the Bali Animal Welfare Association, an organisation I continue to support whenever I'm lucky enough to visit Bali.
